Daruvu Movie Story: A mediocre tale, the story begins at Yamalokam where the new Yama (prabhu) takes over from his father (satyanarayana) and since he wants an experienced person to assist, he orders the senior Chitragupta (m s narayana) to stay back. Chitragupta who dreams of going to heaven and enjoying with Apsaras reluctantly stays back and decides to teach a lesson to the new Yama. He finds an answer in Bullet Raja (Ravi Teja), a small time thief who creates a riot if he is accused of something he didn’t do. Making a wrong calculation, Chitragupta reduces the lifespan of Bullet Raja and gets him to hell. Bullet Raja who falls in love with Shweta (taapsee) and dreams of a good life discovers Chitragupta’s plan and creates ruckus. Yama gives him the choice of entering the body of home minister to correct his mistake. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Daruvu Movie Presentation: The director has come up with a familiar concept and though the presentation was different, the narrative was not upto the mark. The dialogues were average, the script was mediocre and the screenplay was good in parts. Background score was suitable but not one song was appealing. Cinematography was effective and editing was just average. Costumes were apt. The best part of the film is the art department and the graphics. Ravi Teja is the life and soul for this film and he went out of his way to bring life into it. Taapsee looks sweet and she gave the required glamour feast. Sayaji Shinde, Sushant Singh, Raghu Babu, Avinash as villains didn’t do much. Brahmanandam comedy was average. Vennela Kishore was okay. Jayasudha was neat. Srinivas Reddy brought few smiles. The others didn’t have much scope.

Daruvu MovieConclusion: The film belongs to the genre of socio fantasy and it must be said that many scenes remind you of films like Yamudiki Mogudu, Indrudu Chandrudu etc. While the first half goes about with the elements of comedy, songs, action it is only in the second half when the real story picks up momentum. However, though the concept was appealing, the execution was not that sharp. Weak comedy, poor romance and eccentricity has marred the impact of the film. At the box office, the film might have strong openings but success will be difficult.
